So what has been taking over my time? Well, I applied, and was finally granted, a transfer at work. I am working in the same building, but on a different floor and in a different department. And I'm pretty much doing the exact opposite of what I was doing before.
I'm even more involved in my church. I am co-leading a young women's group. That happens every week. The women I am leading with are awesome and I've been blessed to get to know them, and the women in the group, better.
I am also co-leading one of the big events in our church: Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving at my church is a big deal. We feed those who really have no other place to go. Whether it is because they are homeless, or from low-income families, or simply have no other place to go, we invite them to join us for a full-on Thanksgiving meal: turkey, dressing, cranberry sauce, potatoes, sweet potatoes, and more. Completely free. It takes a ton of planning and 50-75 volunteers to pull the event off. It's a lot of work, but completely rewarding. Last year we estimated that we fed 300 people, guests and volunteers.
In other news: I chopped off my hair. :) It's really short. I like it. It made Tanya cry. haha.
Also, I'm getting a guinea pig! I'm so excited. I'm adopting him from a shelter on Saturday. I have it narrowed down to three possible candidates. Once I meet them all, then I'll decide. :o) So happy to have a little friend to play with when I come home!
